LISE MEITNER
Lise Meitner, física de origem austríaca que compartilhou o Prêmio Enrico Fermi (1966) com os químicos Otto Hahn e Fritz Strassmann por sua pesquisa conjunta que levou à descoberta da fissão do urânio. Durante três décadas de associação, ela e Hahn foram algumas das primeiras a isolar o isótopo protactínio-231 (que nomearam), estudaram isomerismo nuclear e decaimento beta, e na década de 1930 investigaram os produtos do bombardearmento de nêutrons do urânio.
